Privacy Policy

Restaurant Beck is a restaurant, not a data business. This site carries no advertising, no tracking pixels and no analytics. We do not sell personal information, and we never have.

What this website collects

Almost nothing. These pages are static. There is no account to create, nothing to log in to, and no cookie banner because the site itself sets no tracking cookies.

There are three places where you can choose to give us information, and each is handled by a company we use to run the restaurant:

• The mailing list. An email address entered in the signup form goes to Mailchimp, which sends our newsletter. We see your address and whether you opened a message. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing takes you off the list for good.
• Reservations. Booking is handled by Tock, either in the booking window on our reservations page or on Tock's own site. Your name, phone number, email, party details and any deposit taken for an event are collected by Tock under their privacy policy. We see your reservation so we can hold your table and cook for you.
• Gift cards. The gift card link goes to Toast, our point-of-sale company. The purchase happens on their site and your card details go to them, never to us.

If you email or call, we have what you sent: your message, your address or your number. We keep those the way any restaurant keeps its correspondence, and writing to us does not add you to the mailing list.

Messaging us through Google

If you message Restaurant Beck from our listing in Google Search or Google Maps, the conversation runs on Google's messaging service and is handled under Google's privacy policy. Google holds the message thread; we see your messages and the name attached to your Google account.

Some replies are written by an automated assistant. Google provides an AI assistant that can answer common questions, hours, directions, whether we can seat a party on a given night, using information we have published about the restaurant. A person at Beck reviews the conversation and takes over when the question needs a real answer.

We use what you send only to answer you and to arrange your visit. We do not add message contacts to our mailing list, and we do not sell or share these conversations. Please do not send card numbers or other sensitive details by message; if a deposit or payment is needed we will point you to Tock.

What happens automatically

• Typefaces are served by Google Fonts, so Google receives the internet address of the device asking for them.
• Hosting. The site runs on GitHub Pages, which keeps ordinary server logs, including IP addresses, for security and abuse prevention.

Our Instagram photographs are copied onto our own server, so reading this site does not report you to Instagram. Clicking through to Instagram or Facebook does, the same as any other link.

Children

This site is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.

Your choices

You can leave the mailing list at any time using the link in any email. You can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, and we will. Reservation records live with Tock, so requests about those are best made to them, though we will help if you would rather go through us.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top of the page changes with it.
